An Undocumented Student’s College Dreams Crushed

There is a student in my school, Giancarlo Tejeda, and his story has just recently come out. He is an undocumented child of Colombian immigrants and even though he has been in the U.S since he was three years old, his family hasn’t been able to receive papers. He is 18 and a senior at Miami Lakes Educational Center in Miami Lakes, FL. He has gotten accepted to NYU and UF but is unable to go because his immigration status restricts him from obtaining any kind of financial aid including scholarships and student loans. His dream of studying biomedical engineering to cure Alzheimer’s disease may never come true.
He has until May 1st to respond to both universities.
If you want to learn more about Giancarlo and his story please visit
and if you’d like to help out his cause he has created a go fund me account for people who want to donate.
If you can please pass this on or share his story so that other people may be aware and find it in their hearts to help out.
